On our return we took a drive through the interior roads and avoided the main highways. The drive itself leaves you mesmerized. This road comes out and the meets the highway almost almost at Igatpuri. If not anything else just go this place for the drive.

Serene, tranquil, peaceful is an understatement for what you experience in the Andamans.   For us the entire trip was a very impromptu one. Was out for work in delhi and my wife calls and tells me that a few days back it had snowed, so lets go and things fell into place and here we were on an early morning Shatabdi from Delhi to Kalka. There are cabs easily available outside Kalka station, depending on the type that u pick it will be anywhere between 2 -2.5k for a mid-sized sedan. The best part is that the taxi union has fixed rates so you don’t need to worry about being fleeced. It’s not a long distance but because you are driving in the hills it takes about 3-4 hrs to reach. There is also a train that you can take from Kalka, it is supposed to be beautiful, really can’t comment much on that as due to paucity of time couldn’t do the ride. Along the way you will find a lot of carts at vantage points selling Chole Kulcha. These are freshly prepared then and there and are simply awesome. Sula Vineyards & more

Though the monsoon this year has not been really great, but this part of Maharashtra I guess you just need a few spells to make the entire terrain lush green be it mountains or flat lands, with waterfalls everywhere u see. We made 2 trips on back to back weekends to the outskirts of Nasik. First up was a weekend trip with friends to a place called E&G spa resorts.  This is on the Trimbakeshwar road about 30 kms before Nashik if you are travelling from Mumbai. We took the straight road to the highway and left the exploration to the return drive. This resort is in midst of hills and valley a little away from the civilization, works on a model of making villas and then leasing them out to holidaying parties. We took two 2 bhk villas as we were 4 couples with kids. Each villa costed us 9k/ night. The villas are fully furnished. The entire resort has been very tastefully done up. There are only some 30 villas in the entire complex. There is a full service restaurant with room
